[Oakland Technical High School Centennial Celebration (ot100years]

*Hi All - First of all, I apologize if you are getting this message more
than once.  I'm going to work with Dan to clean up the lists and groups I
have but for now, I'd rather get everyone than miss someone ... And if you
have people who you'd like to invite to this next planning meeting, please
do.  I did not send out a full on announcement.  We can talk about that on
Sat.*

I'm sorry for getting this out late.  Just a reminder that we are meeting
again this Saturday in the library at Tech from 11 to 1.  Come prepared to
quickly review the work from last time (see attachments, etc.) and then
lets get to work on next steps - outreach, fundraising, planning,

Thank you to Christina, Stacey, Eleanor and Creasie for note taking, note
compiling and feedback.

I am attaching the terrific minutes Christina took - Thank you!  And the
roster Eleanor prepared - Thank you too!!!

Please check the roster for accuracy.  I'll bring a hard copy and we can
mark it up at the meeting.

I am also including the work Stacey did on the notes around the room and
cutting and pasting comments below.  And also comments from Eleanor.

*Here's the Centennial Celebration/Centennial Planning Committee
mission statement we crafted today:*

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Oakland Technical High School, a
landmark institution that continues to educate and inspire generations of
Bulldogs, and to honor the richness of our diverse heritage and our enduring
legacy.


*While I sent out the mission statement everyone worked on, I did not send
out the two main goals I mentioned I heard during the two meetings (which I
have reworded a bit here but this is the gist of what I heard):*

**1.       **To gather the community of Bulldogs past and present in a
series of events throughout 2014-15 culminating in a big blow-out/”gala” and
****

**2.       **To raise money for an endowment/fund/foundation that will be
an ongoing source of financial support to the school for the future****


I thought it would be something that would come out in the minutes but it
occurs to me that we should agree as a group on the two goals ASAP because
they will drive all the actions of the planning process.  In addition, if
the group is serious about a capital campaign to raise funds for the
future, that is something that will need to be very carefully planned and
coordinated with ALL fundraising efforts at Tech for the next two years
including centennial fundraising, PTSA fundraising, sports program
fundraising, etc. and there will need to be agreement on who asks what from
whom when and who has priority. (which really needs to happen anyway but a
capital campaign makes it way more complicated)****

Questions:  1.The Mission Statement is excllent now, but shouldn't it
                    state *how* we will celebrate?
                      a) shout out loud "it's a BIG DEAL!"
                      b) flood Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In with updates
                      c) conduct a variety of public events
                      d) all of the above (?may cloud the statement's
succinctness!)

                 2. From now on, could we please sit around one large table
                     for improved interaction?  (great people!)
