Hi all - here is the announcement about what transpired at our meeting last
month AND what we agreed to based on the notes I took. Please take a
moment to look at the agreements and see if I have missed, added or
misrepresented anything. I have listed the names of the people who agreed
to be part of the milestone timeline group. Maybe Creasy could take the
lead getting that group together if you haven't already met? Please feel
free to share and post this e-mail.

I'd like to have one firm rule - this Centennial Planning group if for
people who are ACTIVELY planning and attending meetings. We will set up
another listserve to share information. I hope that makes sense to you all.

Dan can you share the e-mails you've set up just so we have that here. And
any progress on the contacts database, etc.

Also, I set up a google voice free phone number. It is google voice number
*510-740-8030. *Once we get rolling, I will set up a voice message asking
people to leave the contact info. It is EASY to check those messages which
are transcribed into a gmail e-mail account (OT100years [at] gmail.com). My
thinking on this is that its for people who do not use e-mail and we can
call them back and get their contact info that way.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
On Saturday, April 11th, 11 Bulldogs gathered at 11am in Ms. Wolfe's room
(103) to get the ball rolling on a Centennial Celebration! There were
members from the class of 1944 through 2013.

This is going to be a great, get to business planning group - though there
was a good deal of digression about famous and not so famous graduates and
not quite graduates who shall remain nameless.

The group set a broad initial timeline of meeting every three months on the
3rd Sat. at 11am at Tech., acknowledging the need for sub-committee
meetings and more frequent meetings as the Centennial kickoff gets closer -
the 2014/2015 school year.

What came through loud and clear was a desire to reinvigorate the notion of
Bulldog Pride. Early on, the question: How can we make Bulldog Alums part
of the school? shaped the discussion. This planning group, and certainly
others, would like to share the Bulldog Message throughout the planning and
beyond.

Over the coming months, you will be invited to join a Centennial Update
yahoo group, help locate stray Bulldogs, and help build the buzz. If you
have ideas you would like to contribute, please do so by coming to the next
planning meeting on Saturday, July 21 at 11am at the Oakland Tech library
(formerly the auditorium for those of you who remember when).

AGREEMENTS:
The group agreed the Centennial should not detract from the class of 2014's
graduation and that the alumni torch should be passed to those students.
The group agreed that current Tech students can and should play a major
role in the event.
The group agreed that students, faculty and staff past and present are all
part of the Centennial outreach.
The group agreed this is a BIG DEAL and will commit to put the city on
notice to avoid scheduling major events which might conflict.
The group agreed there will be multiple events over the course of the year
culminating in a Gala of some sort.
The group agreed that music and fashions over all the decades should be
incorporated into the Centennial events.
The group agreed to look into creating an endowment fund with the proper
legal advising possibly in the form of a foundation (Dick would you like to
work on this with me and maybe Sheilagh?)
The group agreed there is a need for a PR committee for publicity, a
secretarial committee to locate and communicate with participants.
The group agreed to form a subcommittee which will bring back a milestone
timeline for the next 2 years to the July 21st meeting for review by the
full group (Creasy, Marian, Marty, Stacy and Sheilagh)
The group agreed form two yahoo groups - one for the planning committee and
another for all to keep them up to date on what's happening.
The group understands all funding will need to be raised and will look into
locating foundations as well as other donors.
The group agreed they would like to create video documentation to capture
the stories of Bulldogs through the years and to energize and reconnect
people for the event.
